Notifications

  • 7 mths ago

SolarNexus automatically notifies users of a variety of events as they occur. Notifications appear on each user's Home screen, and can also be sent via Email, if desired.

NOTE: SolarNexus recommends using some discretion when deciding what to be notified about. You should limit notifications to things that you really need to know about to complete your job effectively and no more. Receiving too many notifications renders them useless because you'll need to filter them for what you really need to know.

Event Notifications

Every user can subscribe to be notified of specific events that occur in SolarNexus. These include:

  • association / assignment to ownership of a role on a project (for example, sales owner, project manager, etc)
  • removed from a role on a project
  • project has no sales owner (must have sale management or administration permissions)
  • new unassigned lead (must have sale management or administration permissions)
  • deferred project needs attention
  • milestone responsibility was changed (assigned or unassigned to a milestone)
  • integrated financing events on my projects (ONLY for finance programs integrated with SolarNexus)

Many times you want to notify a person when a step of the process is completed in SolarNexus. Examples include:

  • notify permit design engineer when site survey is complete and engineering design can start
  • notify administrator that a new project is sold and it needs utility interconnection application paperwork to be completed
  • notify customer that their permit was issued by the building department, and that their installation can be scheduled
  • Many more...

Milestone Completion Notifications

Some users want to be notified every time that a specific milestone is completed, even if they are not associated with the project. For example:

  • Sales owner wants to be notified when the operations team has completed the installation, or received the permit to operate
  • Your company's financial officer is not a SolarNexus user, but needs to be notified when key customer invoicing milestones are completed.

Notifying Licensed SolarNexus Users

On your user Profile, you can pick individual milestones on which to be notified when completed. Simply pick the milestone(s) you want to be notified of when completed and whether to send an Email. You can also Check the "Notify only for associated projects" if you are only interested in notifications for projects on which you have some role (e.g. sales owner, sales assistant, project manager, etc).

Notifying People Outside SolarNexus

If the person is outside your SolarNexus account (does not have a login), you can set up the system to Email specific people when a milestone has been completed. This is the same functionality used to automatically notify customers when key project milestones are completed. You must have administrative permissions to set this up.

First, you'll need to first create an Email template that includes the information you want in the Email body. Then edit the desired milestone, click "notify third party" input the person's email address, and select the Email template you included.

Note that people without a SolarNexus login cannot access the project information or make updates to the status of any project.

Notifying fellow SolarNexus users

In most cases the person to be notified is a fellow SolarNexus user (has a login). The way you notify them depends on what they are supposed to do.

  • If the person is to be notified because they are responsible for the next step in the process, then you'll want them to be notified of that project milestone assignment. To do that, edit that milestone, and add that user as the default assigned user. For example, if you want to assign your engineer to work on the permit package for a project immediately following completion of the site survey, edit the "Permit App Submitted" milestone and specify your engineer as the default owner. Then every time the site survey milestone is completed, the engineer user will receive notification that they are assigned to the next milestone on that project.
  • If you want to notify a person who is not going to be assigned to a milestone, then edit that person's profile, and add a notification for every time the desired milestone is completed. Indicate that they receive an Email. They will receive an email, but won't be auto-assigned to complete a project milestone.
