Evaluate / Prepare Sales Proposal for Production

This activity to setup data for use in proposal documents as well as a guide to evaluate what you need for content in your sales proposals. SolarNexus will review this content with you when you start production


Prepare Basic Content for SolarNexus provided Proposals and Test

Its likely that you already completed these items during your initial trial / setup.

1. Company info / branding - (Trial Phase 1)

2. User profile photos - Have each user edit their own profile and upload a suitable photo

3. Brand colors - Update colors used in document to match your company's branding. Go to Document Templates > Edit Document Theme. See Document Template Theme Colors for more on theme colors.

4. Test out multiple SolarNexus provided templates - determine what you like and don't like.

 


Evaluate Presentation of Pricing and of Value Metrics

 

This is the most complicated part of designing a proposal. There are many ways to show pricing, and options depend heavily on aspects like incentives and financing offered.

What kind of detail do you want to show in Pricing breakdown?

  • permit fees
  • discounts
  • sales tax
  • shipping
  • incentives (collected by you, collected by customer)

 

List All Your Finance Offerings - List all the types of finance options that you offer to customers (cash, unsecured loan, secured loan, PACE, PPA, lease).

 

Determine Price presentation strategy:

A) Only one finance option per proposal? Simplest, can allow for more presentation options

B) Multiple finance options

  • Cash versus one loan: If loan has dealer fees, should you present the retail cost + loan fee as the price and show dealer fee as "cash discount"? This approach works well for a single loan product, but does not work if you have more than one loan to compare because the loans can have different dealer fees resulting in different contract prices.
  • Cash versus more than one loan:  In these cases, an option is to only show the cash contract price, and for the financed options, ONLY show the payments, and down payment (if included).

Determine Set of Document Templates for Use in Production

You should hide any document templates that you don't users to use to create documents. These might be current drafts, or SolarNexus offered templates that you won't use. Go to Administration  > Document Templates. See the checkboxes at top left. You can hide all SolarNexus templates, or you can select specific set of templates (any combination of your own and SolarNexus provided templates).
